Turks Cap and Prosperous Bay
Turks Cap and Prosperous Bay viewed from The Barn.
Turks Cap is formed by two thick Upper Shield trachyte flows; a third flow is present on
the ridge to the right. The ruin of Cox's Battery lies at the end of the ridge.
Prosperous Bay (seen in the distance) was the landing point for British troops in 1673
after the island's brief capture by the Dutch. The troops scaled the cliffs behind the Bay - no
mean feat!
